Reading Notes: Beowulf: King Hygelac of Geatsland, Part A

This story is part of the Beowulf unit. Story source: The Story of Beowulf by Strafford Riggs with illustrations by Henry Pitz (1933).

I read stories from the Beowulf unit this week. The first story was particularly interesting because of how descriptive it was. The story was quite simple, as it set up the scene for the remaining stories. It introduced the characters, the setting, and subtle plot points. The description of the setting, the people, and even background items was full and vivid. It made the story seem more realistic. I wouldn't probably not retell this story, but rather mimic the descriptiveness of the story in my own writing.
