For this weeks second reading, I found the story of how the rabbit killed the Giant quite fascinating. It reminded me of Robin Hood but also had elements of Jack and the Bean Stalk. The characters used in the story were very simple. No proper nouns were used, only general descriptions such as giant or rabbit. Also, it was strange that the rabbit and townspeople spoke so freely. This theme of people being connected to nature has continued to reoccur in these stories. I found it strange that one small bug bite was what killed the giant. Also, the rabbit's fur was blown off when he tried to stand up to the giant. This didn't seem to affect him and the story continued. I did like how the rabbit declined the offer to become the chief of the village. His acts were for the betterment of the people rather for self-betterment. If I retold this story, I would have more encounters between the rabbit and giant and make his defeat more complex.
