Reading Notes: Celtic Fairy Tales: The Shepherd of Myddvai, Part A
This story is part of the Celtic Fairy Tales (1) unit. Story source: Celtic Fairy Tales by Joseph Jacobs with illustrations by John D. Batten (1892).Source
For this weeks reading, I read The Shepherd of Myddvai. It was a simple story of a man trying to wed a lake maiden. He presented her with bread three times until she accepted it on the third attempt. Their marriage was set, except for one condition. If he were to strike her three times, then their marriage would be cancelled and she would return to the waters. If I retold this story, I would probably change the terms of the marriage and make those infringements more interesting.
